CALL-OUT for designers to rehearse emerging design practices after progress
How can we re-imagine, re-present and un/learn design practices for the futures to come?
Are you a designer or a collective that have started experimenting with new practices that anticipate post-anthropocentric and post-progress futures? What are these practices? And how do we get together to strengthen our commitment, as designers, to create better futures? Join the formation of a Design Circle (a study circle for designers): a space and time where we all can learn from each other, sharing practices, doubts, failures and successes.
Is this YOU?
- You are a designer or a design collective whose practice falls outside institutionalised and traditional ways of doing and describing design.
- You have met challenges and experienced friction and unease when your design skills and practices are enrolled for questionable needs.
- You are interested in developing and articulating the design skills, competencies, capabilities, and concepts necessary for the futures to come.
- You have an emerging practice* that might be described through keywords such as caring, repairing, re-orienteering, re-presenting, un/making, un/learning, undoing, householding, refusing, revivaling, regenerating, decolonizing, post-capitalism, post-anthropocentrism, more-than-human, multi-species, or related concepts.
If YES: Do you want to find a context to further rehearse, develop, articulate and practice together with others?
Apply to be part of a transformative exchange, allowing your practice to be part of a (bigger) whole. Do so if you want to rehearse design futures and practices by learning with others, sharing practices, doubts, and attempts, including failures and successes
Are you ready to commit to meeting with others for 3 hours, 8 times during a year?
(*) Practice here is understood as any design methods, processes, exercises, tools, and others, that have been created and tested, even if tested in experimental contexts.
